Skin prick testing is the core diagnostic method for demonstrating IgE-mediated (type I) sensitisation in respiratory and food allergies.
The ComforTen® multiple skin test system allows several allergens to be applied at once with a single applicator. Because the distance between the tips is fixed, the procedure is standardised and quicker, more comfortable for the patient, and the results are easier to read.
Points to consider
- Medicines that may affect the result, such as antihistamines, should be stopped for an appropriate period beforehand, as advised by the physician.
- A positive (histamine) and a negative control must always be applied.
- The test should be performed by trained staff in a setting equipped to manage possible systemic reactions.
